How many dumpsters do you need to start?
Work backward from turns. If a can turns 3 times a month and you need 40 rentals a month to cover a truck payment and overhead, you need about 14 cans in rotation, plus a couple spare for swaps. A common starting mix is mostly 20-yard cans (Dumpsters.com lists the 20-yard for whole-house cleanouts and home renovation), a few 10s for heavy debris, and a few 30s for large cleanouts. Let your first 90 days of calls decide the next purchase.
Profit margin reality check
Profit per rental is what is left after disposal, truck time and overhead.
